Rick McMahan spent over twenty-five years as a federal agent before retiring in 2017 as a Senior Special Agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF). During his career, Rick worked a wide array of investigations--interstate firearms traffickers; murder for hire cases, and he even arrested a serial bomber. For over a year and a half, Rick was the lead investigator/ control agent for an undercover ATF agent who infiltrated an outlaw motorcycle gang.
Since retiring, Rick worked as an instructor for a law enforcement academy, and currently he serves as a Detective at the Kentucky Attorney General’s Office. In his spare time, Rick enjoys writing. His fiction has been published in various publications, including twice having short stories published in Mystery Writers of America anthologies. Most recently, he had a story included in The American Best Mystery Stories of 2020. In addition, Rick has acted as an instructor for the Writer's Police Academy for multiple years, including 2022. |
